User-Contributed Transcription three days, they bought some the other day, that looked very nice, stamped in littlenice table lumps, it was so yellow Mrs. W. was afraid it was coloured, it is not so nicebutter as yours, they paid a shilling. If you can spare any, the sooner you can get it herethe better. I need a little money to spend very much shall have to take up the $20 Iam afraid, which is all my dependence for going to Boston next fall, as it will take allof this terms' wages I expect to pay board for myself and L. though I guess they willbe very reasonable, L, does her own washing & ironing and make herself handy. If you can spare a well as not not butter enough to come to two or three dollars and send itdown soon, it would get a chest jacket for Isaac and furnish me with what I want, sothat I need not take up my order: I am afraid too much of it would be spent if I haveit, by me, and then the interest on it will be, 60 if I let it be, which is not to despised, these hard times. My stock of money now on hand is 4 cents which I am going to spendtomorrow. I can get along without any thing more but a pair of shoes I think. I have got for mybonnet a rich looking figured white ribbon, for, 20 per yard, put it round plainwithout bows, and it looks sweetly. Lucy's was a shilling.I have written a long letter to Almeda and sent about a fortnight ago. Isaac's jacket hasgot a little hole in the elbow and no pieces to mend it, I am going to darn itup, and want you should send some like it. James W. is a dapper little fellowlively as a cricket and good natured as a kitten, he cannot appear any betterso well in company as Isaac can, but is prompt, shrewd and agreeable andappears to know much more than he does & will make his way well in theworld: he is boxing about at a great rate in the garden & about and I guessMr. W think he would get along just as well without Isaac though theyare willing and expect him to stay till his term is out, I sometimes worryfor fear Isaac does not do all he can though perhaps without reason,I should think it would be well for him to stay and work for Mr. Walker allthe time next vacation, so as to stay the term after, before time to start school, he will not get such a chance as this again and had betterhave it as long as he can.
