User-Contributed Transcription Lucy HampdenJuly 12. 1850 Hampden July 12th. 1850. Father came last night after John - is going home tomorrow if he does not tonight. I send four kerchiefs for Almeda and Albina. There are two more here which Lucy is going to hem & use while here, & Almeda can have them or I will keep them just as she likes - tell her to write. Lucy is quite impatient because Mother nor James have neither of them written yet. Why did they not tell me what to do about a bonnet, so that I can send it by this good opportunity. When is Isaac coming? I bought a small plaid pink muslin for Lucy yesterday could not find a pretty gingham. This is stout & does'nt fade - also aprons, stockings. gloves etc. Samuel got twenty pounds of beef - leg. after steak was cut off - for, 25 yesterday very fat -such lots of marrow and fatings. - pieces of marrow half as large as my fist came tumbling out which he cut it into. We had a good steak for breakfast, s[t]enough for a dinner to Mr. Goddard - have a nice soup for dinner, and am cooking the rest, which is a great boiler full, to make mince pies! Called to see Lissie Doe yesterday. She is acquainted with Mr. Temple. The night before I gave quite an account of Milo & the country round there in a vestry meeting at the first parish, she says he is considered quite talented and an excellent scholar at the Seminary, but is exceedingly eccentric much ridiculed by some. I am thinking it will take Isaac some days to pack, he has so many things accumulated at Milo. If you get this before he comes, wish you'd
