User-Contributed Transcription expressed to me her earnest wish that she might not live to be an invalid or helpless, she had a great desire that she might be useful while she loved. She has been taken from us in the midst of her usefulness while all her powers of mind were in full vigor: she was the honored head of all our household. In the midst of our sorrow, we leave much to be grateful for that her sufferings were short, and she was so supported in the trying hour shewing such cheerful trust and firm reliance on her Savior: She was happy in having so many of her children with her (all were here except Almeda) with their families: she rejoiced greatly too, that brother Charles, after long holding back, had come out decidedly, and was a candidate for admission to the church - he united the Sunday after her death. Thanks to God that He gave us such a mother, that He spared her to us so long, for the example she has left us, for the precious memory of her words of counsel and her dying trust. In a late letter
