User-Contributed Transcription during a Sabbath probably. You can snatch a few hours, come without expense I suppose, - I want to see you very much - shall be much disappointed if I cannot. After I reach Milo, I shall be stationary there for a while at least. Mother's task must be great, She needs what assistance and comfort I can render, I shall enjoy much too in Joseph's society though it will be very trying to me to see him so helpless, not gradually, as with the rest of you - to me the change will be from perfect health apparently, to utter prostration. I have felt all along, that if I could do as well as I have done, being so far from home, I would stay a year or two longer before returning, but Providence seems to order it differently. No way is open for me to stay, no situation, suitable or at all desirable, that I can obtain by any exertion. Mrs. H. would be glad to have me stay longer and even increase my salary provided I could teach Algebra, but that I can not do, so she has engaged another teacher - a young lady from Pittsfield Institute who has been here in the family the last five weeks, - while Mrs. H. was absent I was housekeeper (i.e. had the direction of matters - girl young and incompetent and for all mu faithful care and even labour I have not been so much as thanked. but I have learned some useful lessons here. Many times in my life I have sacrificed my own feelings and even interest from a spirit of kindness and goodwill to others, without the satisfaction of its being even appreciated. It is
