User-Contributed Transcription who seemed very much as of yore, when you and I were students in the delightful village of Foxcroft. I also saw our old friend Susan O., but did not get a chance to speak with her, which of course I very much regreted. Blake and Holmes are fitted to enter a term in advance, and Holmes has concluded to go on in the spring; but Blake told me that he had not determined whether to go then, or wait till the Soph. year. I advised him to go in the spring, and hope he will. We shall want his vote in the next Ath. election, and I suppose there would be no difficulty in securing it. We must claim and assert our rights at that election, - and, if we give proper attention to the subject, shall be able to maintain them. We ought to have the President and Secretary - and must have the former. Stevens is trying hard for the Secretaryship, and no doubt is very confident of obtaining it, though there is room for some doubt whether he will be able to carry the election. It is an office in which much can be done for a secret society if the Secy. is disposed to use his influence in that way. If the [Greek letter delta] KE's would put some one forward for the office, I think they might elect him. You mentioned Weeks in your letter. He is teaching in Brewer, and thinks some of going to Brunswick next term. If he goes we will make him an Athenaean, and I think he might make a good member of the secret society. If he should prove a desirable fellow, I can get him, as he will room with me. I wish I could go down and make "Susannah" a visit some Sunday night, but [[marks?]] wont let me! - aint it too bad? My brother stays at home this winter, and as he has just become "of age," I suppose he will not teach much more, since he can now have his own way about it. I have rec'd letters
