The Whigs were against the Law - the Locoes in favor. They desisted by a respectable majority in favor of the Whigs. So good old Gov. Attian, altho' he gets drunk once and awhile must be gov. so long as he lives. I have been out haying 2 days! sin[[ce?]] you left. Yes sir, our corn goes well etc. etc. etcetera. [[?]] letters here are for those you named. The one for Joseph [[?]] backed in such a manner I am almost good mind to se[[?]] I don't believe it is from any of your family, and I almost detected in it the touchs of softer fingers. But from the cut of the In's - like that - I conclude it from some school urchin. I could send them by private conveyance, if I knew anyone from your Town. We all send our respects as a family, and hope soon to kick you out of bed.
Ever your friend and humble servant.
James F. Walker
I.S. Metcalf Esq. Milo
I now demand a long letter in revenge for the shortness of this. Shall I be accommodated! You must work pretty sharp. It will do you good. Shall not we see you [[?]] school commences? Or has your sister already [[returned?]]? We have expected some of you this some time Excuse hurried [[?]]
I would fill this blank - but the bell rings for dinner - and I must write several letters this P.M.
Excuse haste yrs &c
