Dear Anna
Good letter from you yesterday. But was it not a blessed rain! How it helped us out!
With the work of the Boys, Mayo the forenoon, the rest with George and many neighbors all day.
The boys went up without breakfast, as soon and they got out of bed, and Eliah and Isaac did not get back till after dark, and Henry M. till after nine oclock. With the violent wind there was if the fire had once got through that little strip of woods, into the fields covered with dry weeds, it might have got down to the Town Line, and George's buildings in 15 minutes; and then the first building that burned the dry shingles might have carried
