Bro Metcalf
You must pardon me for my delinquency and I will endeavor to do better for the future. Your writing me immediately on the reception of this will prove your disposition to do better than I have. I have not written because I have not commenced I know of no other reason. The exhibition came off Tuesday Evening 11' - a very good performance Edwards played - the eve'g was delightful - The salutatory by Pickard was superior to any thing of the kind performed here for some time. So they say!! He was much cheered in his performance. In speaking of the present Junior class he held this language Umbrae hominem (a laugh) While complimenting the ladies & speaking of their charms he turned round to Pres and said it is  not good for man to be along. It took well. There was a laugh at the old man's expense His face was soon suffused (covered) with blishes. Fred Sewall holds such language as this grand climacteric of the anti-psicological monomania! Big words for a little man
[cross writing:]
My address will be Bowdoinham and now Isaac write me as soon as you receive this & tell me where youll teach how much wages how long a school when you begin &c. &c. Send me papers often
