User-Contributed Transcription in the place there is a good deal of money due the quarry men which they expect in the spring. They have not had a full payment since the first of the summer I believe. The people in this neighborhood are hauling wood for the quarry Co. this winter they require about 250 cords. so we have a very good road notwithstanding there is no lumbering done in here I do my thrashing by hand (have about 100 bus. each of Oats & Barley. 20 bus of corn.) We have 1 horse 4 cows 2 oxen 57 sheep & 2 hogs. think sheep are the most profitable We have had very blustering weather a good deal of the time this winter though not very cold 12° below zero is the coldest Yours truly J.
