User-Contributed Transcription to go over more than 6. Sections in Algebra, but shall now have to put on a little harder in order to keep pace with the class - By the way, I should like to know the object in driving Algebra so - In addition to the college studies, I have the remainder of the preparatory course to make up - I am now reading the "Georgics," which I shall finish this week. The Greek Testament I shall not trouble this term; but if convenient, shall probably read some in it during the winter - it not convenient, I shall trust to the "inspiration" of the moment when I come to be examined. At any rate I have little fear of failure on that score, unless the examination should be worse than the other, on that part - I believe each read one verse of the Latin, which answered all practical purposes - I shall not take advantage of that course, however - You need not inform Professor Upham of this though!! -
You Sophs. seem to have a great antipathy to the old Chapel. I hope it will not be entirely demolished till another shall be erected - I would seem that some of the Freshmen are a little green - according to the Sophomoric notions - now, making all reasonable allowance for the medium through which you, as a Sophomore, would look upon them, perhaps we must acknowledge that there may be a shade of the green, but I presume it will wear away before another term - and then you will have to beware how you [[crowed?]] bah!
Now, Friend Metcalf, I have nearly filled my sheet with just such matters as first occurred to my mind; whether It will be in the least interesting to you I do not know - be assured yours was to me, and I hope you will again lay me under obligation for another favor of the same kind - and rest assured it shall not long go unanswered -
Yours Truly
Isaac W. Case
