User-Contributed Transcription The Juniors did credit to themselves at least they suffered nothing in comparison with the Seniors - There have been two very powerful rains here lately 13 inches as Prof. Cleav informs us. Has done but little damage  - carried off a part of one dam. Students a leaving fast some one or more daily. Baker today (& Newcomb) I go tomorrow Jordan yesterday &c. We are now reading Spanish. I like it because there is a precision in it, which we do not find in many if any of the other languages Par Example the vowels always have the same sound with only four exception The con's have the same sounds in the same situation We have three lesson in a week. As to German it is hard to say where we are reading. We have about two pages a day. We (the class) will read this term all the poetry as far as 211 page in the reader. We are also studying the [[sweet?]] Calculus, have got thro' first chapter, & shall advance one week longer. What we get in this is no part of the review - We shall read the 1, 3, 38, 11, 13 & 14 Satires. I do not think of any

I shall leave what things I have here now, using where they are till spring. They will safer here than in S. Coll [[for?]] [[?erril?]] [[stops?]] till the close of the term. I here [[enjoin?]] a secret and as a Bro of [Greek letters delta, kappa, epsilon] you will not disclose. I think of writing for my own improvement a communication for the Forrester My signature is "Solon" and when you see any articles under this signature criticize them freely and
