I could not find the family pen so I take a pencil to talk at you for a few minutes, The babies are all asleep, Herbert has gone to town meeting, and my girl is like all other girls, out I don't know where - Therefore I have the whole house to myself - I did want to go and see you when I was in Cleveland but it was such bad weather that father and mother Brooks would not consent to my going - They were afraid the baby would take cold if I did not.
