Dear Sir
I hope you will excuse the liberty I take in writing to you on so slight an aquaintance as ours. My reasons for doing so at present is to obtain some information about farms and farming in the vicinity of Elyria
I have for some time been desirous of renting my farm here & spending a year in Ohio, and to enable me to do so I thought of renting a small farm or a dwelling house with a few acres of ground in the vicinity of Cleveland or Elyria. And if my wife & I both liked the change I might conclude to buy a place there and remain permanently
For various reasons my wife has been opposed to the move, but if we went preferred to go to vicinity of Elyria as she was aquainted with yourself mother & sister.
Since the troubles with the Sioux commenced, the accounts of which you have probably learnt from the public p[[?]]ts, she is anxious to go to Ohio or somewhere else further away than this from the Indians.
I should like to know on what terms farms
