Friend & Brother
I received a letter a few days since was very happy to hear from you, both of your personal affairs and other matters of importance and interest. The tour you speak of to Yale would be very congenial to my feelings but incompatible with my business. I closed my school in the bill last Saturday and commence this morning in district No. 9. Brick School house Foreside where you and I went one day where I shall be engaged till the commencement of the spring Term or later and if I am absent a week I shall lose Prof Cleaves Lectures!! And the "Means" as you say! There's the rub! I suppose if the Society send a member his expenses will be defrayed? so you will be to no charge Perhaps you will say I think too much of the money: Well you will allow me to make the same excuse you make yourself without charging me with avarice! Poor me: I shall come out minus from Coll, but this dont trouble me?
