User-Contributed Transcription Don Quixote & Shakespeare & however far more alike than one would first suppose in things so different. This is somewhat of the same mighty-omniscience of human nature which is the great attribute of genius.Oct. 29thPerhaps you know this is another week since supra.  Well a good many things has happened -- not the very least in importance thereof is that yesterday a chap kim round & paid me over twenty five dollar bills & some little ones. If as he ought he had given me two fifties in addition, I would have sent them to you.  I came up to Northfield last night with $120.00 in my pocket, which rapidly diminished to about $70.00.  I still owe $15.00 borrowed money & some $5.00 debts besides a Board Bill of $10 or 15, whereof I labor under trustee process and cant pay just now.If I can continue the borrow & change 5s to a couple of XXs, I will forward them with this soon.I have left Northfield -- ordered to "Grouts" place 9 miles below!  (If I had time I would describe it to you) take the place of Leonard, Alabama gone.  A promotion I dislike the place much though -- verry bad.  Every way.    Moreover Leonard was a man of no system.  Business all in worst possible shapes called off so sudden with notice to arrange it.If I could not straighten things out somewhat I sould expect to be a hundred years old in three months of it.  Why I can't hardly dream nights.  I'll straighten it soon.It was a good deal of confidence to put in a yearling to send into such a place, into such a man's shoes too.I mean to come up to Northfield always Sabbaths as today.  I can't live there.  I have a house to myself you know.I guess it is Thursday & in the multiplicity of other cares this letter has not yet gone.  I enclose XX.  If you can, send to Jos. McKeen Esq. Brunswick $83.00 or 84.00 on my account. if not put it off a month.Aff.   I.J.Me.
