User-Contributed Transcription Isaac  May 22 1851  DunbartonMilo, ME. May 11, 1851Dear Antoinette,  It is sabbath afternoon, and the most beautiful of May weather. I could almost fancy myself in Italy or Greece as I look from my window upon the mellow haze of the atmosphere, and the richness of the summer clouds that lie so still in the western sky.  I have not been at Meeting today - for there was none to attend.  I went to Sabbath School though, or rather to assist in organizing the Sabbath School for the season, which was fairly accomplished in due form, and with full prospect of interest and good. I think the Sabbath School will be very large in proportion to the whole attendance at Meetings.  There seems a much more hopeful prospect of benefitting the young here than the older, and I am not sure that Ministers might not properly and profitably devote more of their attentions and effort to the children.  I heard one Minister, (Rev Mr. Hayes of Frankfort Me.) say last winter that he had for some years systematically devoted one half of his efforts, both in the pulpit and out, to the juvenile portions of his parish, and his only doubt was whether he should not a still larger portion.  The people here expected to have preaching now all, or about all, of the time; A Free Will Baptist 'Elder" once a month, a Calvinist Baptist the same, and Congregationalist half the Sabbaths; all in the same house, - or Hall.  The Meetings are held in Sons of Temperance Hall.
