User-Contributed Transcription But I wanted to see a little more of Hartford, ad concluded to remain, and so go right on to New York City, and spend the Sabbath there. I went over to Brooklyn to Meeting and though I did not hear the preacher I was expecting, I was very much pleased. It was Rev A.L. Stone of Boston who it appeared had exchanged with Dr Storrs of Brooklyn. I had been wishing to hear Mr Stone; and his eloquence was indeed all I could have expected. I thing his sermons were about the most elegant I ever heard. The thought was excellent, while the expression was beautiful and polished to the highest degree.  Going up to Albany on Monday, I found that if I had been there only a day or two sooner I might have had a good situation, probably just about what I should want, upon the Albany and Susquehanna R.R Albany to Binghampton.  Mr. Edward C. Delavan, the celebrated Temperance man, is the President of the Company, and the principal man.   I began to think myself unlucky, but went on to Utica, remaining there Tuesday June 3.  When I was there before I had had about the promise of a situation upon the Mohawk Valley R.R. Utica to Schenectady, if I would wait until June.  But now it appeared that the Company had become involved in an intrigue with the Old Corporation; were quite likely even to sell out, and do nothing.  At any rate there would be nothing done for a month or two.  So I went on.  I stopped at Canadaigua, at Rochester, at Batavia, Attica, and Buffalo; but found no business for me.  Perhaps I could have done better if I had been there a month
