Nov. 24th 1854My DearestI believe I must write a little to you tonight.Yesterday I was made glad by two excellent letters fromyour own dear self.  One was mailed at DunbartonNov. 7th, The other at Concord on your way to PembrokeNov 9th.  How much good they have done meever since.  They seem to keep me in heart likea good meal of victuals.  It has been rather a busy week.  I spent the Sabbath at Ducoign:  writing a letter there to you & another or two to Bangor, whichI expect were mailed at Chicago by Mr Post, who started fromthis region for there on Monday.  Monday I was up at Centralia.Track had been completed on Sec Div. before that.  On Mondayit was connected through with that laid alone makinga connection with the Ohio & Mississippi R.R. to St. Louis.On Wednesday commenced regular trains, runningthrough for passengers each way.  St Louis at 9 A.MSandoval (the crossing of O.D.M & I.L.R.Rs at 11.30, Centralia 12 P.MDucoign 1-40, Cairo 5-30 P.MCairo 6 A.M Ducoign 10-50, Centralia 12-30Sandoval 1-30 St Louis 4.  All are to stop toDine at Centralia - but unfortunately as yet there isno place to dine;  and passengers are fortunate ifthey are not compelled to go through fasting.
