User-Contributed Transcription You enquire whether I hear from Anna. Well I haven't at all since I told you about long time ago; till yesterday, when with yours arrived a long nice letter from Anna, who was all well & very happy but very busy all the time. Has I guess a good deal of company. Their Son Dr. Wees from Illinois has been making a visit there with his family; whom Anna likes very well. She mentioned receiving your letter. I hardly know yet whether to bring trunks & c when I go east or not. Probably I will though mostly. I cannot tell yet when it will be.  I have a good many things to attend to yet to finish up my business. Crosby has got about through. I hardly know whether he will go home or not. Mitchell you know stays here as Road Master. Given will probably be a conductor on the Road. Mr Keyes intends to build & live at the Ducoign Station as soon as possible. Really, an extensive purchase of books "The Lady of the Lake", Pocket edition I presume, price .25. and the only book you have bought in six months? Your last letter, written just before you were going to Pembroke was written when you had just heard of our R.R. Accident here of the 26th ult. Now do not go and worry about it all at once, as if I were in danger, simply because I am employed on Rail Roads. Besides the kind care of an over ruling Providence; you know I claim to be a very careful man, especially of myself & mine; and moreover
