June 30. 1850Dear Antoinette                 Your letter was welcomed more than two weeks since. I intended to write before this time, but various matters in addition to my constant care of my brother have occupied my attention, and delayed it somewhat.Sister Lucy I wrote to you was sick of a fever, and Mother went to Bangor to take care of her. As soon as Lucy was able to ride, she came up here with her husband and stayed a week, returning yesterday.  We enjoyed their visit very much, although Lucy was well enough to sit up only a part of the time. I think a sister never was more beloved than is ours. Joseph says that the best people in the world are not in Milo today. I believe he thinks they were yesterday.Joseph remains just about the same. He failed very fast for a while, but for some four weeks past has seemed stationary: almost entirely helpless, but we have hoped getting no worse; and we have been encouraged lately to hope that he might gradually recover.I have been very much confined here with my brother. I should think it must be two months since I have hardly been away from the house. I hardly leave him at all by day, and sleep near him at night being up to help him more, never less than twice, often
