User-Contributed Transcription vicinity of the Lake Erie is cooler than almost any other place so far south as this.   The Children all seem to be strong & healthy. And yet in such extremely warm weather, if little children get hold of green fruit or cake or fat meat or any thing not easy of digestion they are sure to be half sick, and cross and restless. One day last week Little John and Anna got hold of & bit some green apples - the early Windfalls are beginning to get Mellow you know - and that night betwixt 'em they kept me awake about all night. However I do not know but they were just as well as ever by the next day. If I should go away, I do not know but there would be a quarrel about the children.  Mrs Twiss insists upon having Little Anna.  Elisa and Maria are like to quarrel about Little Don john. Elisa would feel terribly if if John should not be left with her; and Maria thinks he ought to come there. This hot weather make people stay at home here. Thursday evening meeting was but half attended, and today both Church and Sabbath School were very thin indeed   Mr Wilbur preached an excellent Sermon upon Christian Sloth, very valuable to young christians as well as to the rest of us.  But I am afraid no Children like May would understand much of it.   I do not know but I did about as well as Mr Wilbur.  You see last Sabbath there was a collection taken up to help purchase a new Sabbath School Library, which as Mr Wilbur introduced
