User-Contributed Transcription Charles & A. T. Ely are staying down there with Mr. Boyd for their health: so with Boyd's children were 4. Then J.L. Cole & R. W. Pomroy, who, you may have heard, have started a bit of vineyard next to Boyds, came down with their wives and children. And it was quite a mess of young folks, some what more than twenty of the little ones. And they had a great time, John crowed & shouted to his hearts' content, and the children were all good as pie. Lucy was no more than crazy, and this is as much as could be expected We started at 8 a.m. Got back at 7 P.M. {Two hours each way on road}The Pic Nic a dinner out under the breeze with iced lemonade and all the fixings. And before we got through Boyd brought out a freezer of Ice cream sufficient for the crowd. There was a fine shower, the night before, so that there was no dust. For the other side, or the Chapter of accidents: Little John's hat blew off & the carriage wheels of the next carriage ran over it crushing it into the mud. However, it came into shape again and the mud came off when it got dry. Mr. Nelson broke on a jolt his new $300 or $500.00
