User-Contributed Transcription of the bad weather, the meanness of Cairo, the high living on the Steamboat, or simply the 4 oclock starting, (an early start, you know, never agrees with me)  I cannot tell.  The Bad Cold was quite severe but in a day or two run off into a very Diarrhea. Wednesday I was invited over to Geo Smith's to Tea with some others.  Perhaps while talking I was careless in eating pickles & cake, perhaps I caught more cold in  At any rate for two or three days I could hardly move without feeling as if everything inside of me would drop out of me.   I did not like to call upon the Doctors, and be adopted the starvation cure, but it had gone so far it took some time to starve it.  Mrs Keyes fixed up Toast Water for me to drink, a cup of Tea morning & night, & a bowl of chicken broth at Noon.
