Dear Brother Charles
Looking over my portfolio I find your letter of March 2d, and cannot find that it has ever been answered, I fear therefore that I shall not get another from you till I do write to you again. We were were quite amazed at your account of your night's work on Mrs Rickess' account; though it was really altogether too bad to be very ridiculous. We were quite anxious to hear whether you had the same trip again the next snowy night. How long did it take your horse to get over it? Has the red horse got over his fright yet? Are you going to sell any of your horses this spring? Horses are very high here this spring. You have a pretty strong team of your own now; a good yoke oxen & three large stout horses. I want to hear how you make out with your hauling Bog Mud. I should much like the chance to help you some with that & the wood pile. I am doing very little here except some reading & taking care of and playing with the babies. I just about cut wood &c. enough for exercise. While I was here the first part of Winter I cut 10 or 12 cords
