R.R. Mason who is at Jonesboro, and wishes me to be there as soon as possible I suppose I must go right down from here this afternoon, and probably shall not be at home till some time next wek. This is a hard fate but cannot well be avoided.Mr. Mason will probably not be here for a month or more.Mr. Ashley's children are very sick with the Measles. When this Messenger left it was thought that John would not live.I shall probably remain with Col. Mason till Monday night or Tuesday. So do not expect me till I come for it maybe longer.Do take special care of my Ettie while I am gone. Get Lizzie or Miss Paine to sleep with you etc.I am in haste,   Aff.  I S.
