User-Contributed Transcription Northfield, March 9th 1848.Dear Brother,It is but a short time since I sent to you a letter, and that one of considerable length. But certain things intended to be remitted in that letter, having failed of so doing: I think to forward this also, hoping to receive to both an answer right speedily.I suppose there will be no necessity of troubling myself to think in relation to the "Materiel" of this letter, as the what I may happen to write is not considered or intended as the matters of most importance.With this letter I will remit to you, first - Sundry Newspaper articles which I intended to transmit by my last, but, sealing up in haste, carelessly omitted so to do. Second, $20.00 (Fitchburg XX, No 478, E.} with which you may credit me, till I want it. Keep it for me, and if it is worth any thing to you, and you have it long enough to make it worth awhile, allow me interest therefor.  Rather a small way it is these Big Uns take to save a Copper in these hard money times This ninth day of March at Eve I have just received my wages for the month of January.  I suppose they think the interest of $20.00, or even $100.00 for a month or two is not much to any one, but that of the few thousands a Pay Roll would amount to is worth their saving. I expected that Feb. would come with it, but it appears not
