User-Contributed Transcription You do misuse that old before mentioned German. Can it really be I, - matter of fact, common sense, 'practical man', as I am, should be 'Trancendentalist' An Engineer too, the most practical of all human employments - impossible. Why, if I have one spark of Trancendentalism about me, I am certainly very much out of place in my present profession & employment. At any rate, as I said before, I am not a Metaphysician. As for "the Ludicrous" Hobbes definition of it is certainly to me at least most trancendentally of ununderstandably Ludicrous. My experience of 'Mysteries' too had been very much inferior to yours. I do not know as I ever saw any more in want of an explanation than some Mathematical problem or Diagram. Your argument in explanation of Mysteries is so overburdened with Metaphysics that I hardly understand it all in the 'premise.' the 'Conclusion' I judge lacks Mathematics; requires more Permutation & Combination. However, I should judge it a strong argument, but rather misapplied, when addressed to an Engineer! I am sorry my Friend, Classmate & Brother AKE, Henry J. Ware of Athens, is not alive. If he were, I would certainly introduce you to one another by letter immediately. How you both would enjoy such a discussion! It is a pity you & he could not have read Lucretius together.I do not now take N.Y. Tribune. My subscription run out, & I did not know where I would be to have it directed. Money. I have a very little now shall have more sometime, Think I will send $40.00 to Elia at Bangor for you. Man is as profusely an incarnate skeleton as a Carrion of the same size & shape; perhaps no more so.  Why & how is "Draper's Chemistry" out of your reach? It costs $.75 cts. I "owe you one" - a very particular one, on Original ideas. - Consciousness, my ground of belief. Good. All perfectly true however, no joking about it. Original idea. Well in a few words. An idea is a thought. An original idea is a thought never before thought. Looking at the Matter Mathematically, as an Engineer, I certainly see probabilities exceeding slight of a new one being caught or thought.
