Dear Brother
We are all situated very comfortably here together, with pleasant rooms, and very near the Academy.
We have got a rather large school for spring term, nearly a hundred now, and many more coming in yet.
The school is however of hardly so high a character as last fall; a great many new scholars, especially from round these two villages, a rude as well as ignorant set many of them.
Every thing goes on smoothly however. I am considerably more occupied in school, hearing recitations, at least. I have one very good class in Algebra, 12 or 15. Lucy is in it & Miss [[Bash?]]. All the Arithmetic in school. 2 pretty large classes. 1st Arith. contains more than a dozen ladies, besides boys; 2 classes in Eng. Grammar One of my Grammar classes contains between 30 & 40, the other a dozen or so. One recitation too at my room, at present, besides some occasional assistance. I generally study about 3 hours in the day, besides studying or writing in the evening, when not otherwise engaged. I get alonge finely in study for time spent. Study in own room entirely, and in the Academy only teaching.
I have paid $5,50 to Mr. Briggs, by borrowing some of Joseph I dont know but I shall have to borrow some money, before I can get my school money.
I have had to buy two or three dollars worth of books, lately. I think it would be a good plan to haul some potatoes to Bangor, if you can get 2/s. per. bu. for them. The cash would be much better than work or promises! What is the prospect of a market for hay?
