User-Contributed Transcription Bangor Jan. 26th, 1845Specimen of an Exodium {I believe I must take the liberty, or rather the opportunity, to write another letter today, as it is Sabbath & stormy, and I happen to be here at home again and not much to do; although I have written some, before, I guess, but it has become a little musty by this time I guess; although there has nothing of interest taken place since, and nothing to mark a mark on the time so we could remember it, except that one Sabbath follows after another} I ought to have sent up home last week, but Cutts, I did not see, and it as so stormy there was no body else on the road, I believe, from so far up country.   The storm & blow, Tuesday & Wednesday, filled up the roads finely, and do dry that it did hardly got trod down so as to make good roads or good walking before the great rain storm.  I need some clean shirts much, I hardly see how I happened to be so destitute. there are plenty of linen here but only three shirts. one of them has already been worn two weeks & the another is now undergoing the same.              It troubles me to think of that $5,00 I owe to Caleb Prentiss, and which was to be paid in three months, which would be in December. I hoped to have enough from my writing school to send it up to him, but have not after paying what I run in debt for Stationery etc. and if I had I want it bad enough for other purposes; however I live upon anticipation in that as in every thing else: five weeks more and I shall have some money: but it also troubles me to think how extremely
