User-Contributed Transcription Bangor, Jan. 19th, 1845  My school is now just finished; and so is the celebrated writing school. I am really pleasantly situated here, and have a very pleasant school as well as in writing school.  The writing school is really a good one in spite of Joseph's insinuations: it is small to be sure, and the terms still smaller, but the scholars are really good ones, and many of them quite good writers; as for the improvement they make, I only wish you could see their books.   There are eighteen in all, but one or two of them, for not all the time. They have all paid me but three of them, & they will next evening.  The Stationery for the School would amount to about $3.00; though I bought about, $6.50 worth in all including the two half reams of paper. I bought a gross of pens,  you know for $1.25, I have sold more about .50 of them besides .25 I sent home. I bought one 1/2 ream of paper for $1.25 and one for .90, and sold one fourth of each to Green who boards here for $.75. Ann bought 12 sheets like the best, at Duren's since she came down and gave .15 for it,, 30 per quire. $6.00 per ream.   About a fortnight ago, I started Friday night, Jan 3d and walked up to Levant; about 7 miles, after school, and staid both Sat. and Sunday at Dr. Case's. They appear to be very fine sort of people. Isaac W. Case is teaching the school at Levant village, and boards at home. I went to
