User-Contributed Transcription business, but for the benefit of his society & companionship which I need. I have always suffered for the lack of such society. I did so especially at Northfield & Grouts. Society of the other Sex, I have none really. My LandLady I cannot like much As Landlady she is first rate, a fine table & orderly house but she is selfish coarse and loud, though taking much pains to please her boarders. I have seen, I believe in N.Y. Papers, the account a "Mrs. Bagley of Milo, Piscataquis Co, Maine" shooting an enormous Eagle just carrying off one of her Sons! Is there any such story, and what is it, and where does it belong? Do you know any thing of the whereabouts of a young man named J.M. Metcalf? I have ordered him to appear here forthwith, but he does not as yet show himself, or say when he will. If he has taken refuge with you, or is harboured in your region, I wish you would send him along here immediately. I will do him good when he gets here, riding around the country etc. etc. I usually ride 15 to 20 miles per day. Keep the use of one horse all the time. and can have another when I want, and will if he will come. The R.R.Co. Allows me $1500 per Month extra for Horse Hire.Speaking above of female society, there is one Lady in Goffstown I intend to get acquainted with if possible. She is an Old Maid probably 40 years old, is wealthy, highly educated, accomplished, travelled, and moreover has been extremely beautiful, has the most magnificent & sweetest eye I ever saw, and I form a very high opinion of her from her Sabbath School Class.
