User-Contributed Transcription I have earned $5,00 this term by sawing wood, so that I have now nearly $15,00 with what you sent besides which I shall have about $1,00for building fire and care of a recitation room, if I can get it. It is the rule and the custom to put that on the term bill, but you see I don't want to paymy term bill yet a while. So I shall make a grand effort to get the money and let the term bill slide! I guess I shall succeed with the exception of $3,50 on my last term bill, of last fall. Which is all I ever mean to pay of it.My last fall term bill you know was $49,00, being about $23,00 charged for last fall and $26,25 for last year.I paid $20,00 of it, and petitioned to have the 26,00 remitted. I don't know what action or conclusion theyhave made upon the request, or what they will do about it.I know one thing, that is I never shall pay it, without they cheat it out of me, at least. One thing, I have never given them a bond, norbeen matriculated, neither do I mean to. I don't intend to care any more about them or care any more about staying here, than they care about meand about my staying here. So if I leave, part square! They like the $2,00 or 3,00 dollars they receive from a student rather too well to part from them when they can help it.A good many ought to be turned away for irregularities & neglect of study. Some make them more trouble than they are worth. The advantages of College are hardly what they are cracked up.Discipline of mind is all the advantage besides the Libraries.A great part of the students don't get much of the discipline. One gets rid of it mostly if he choose. Everything is so lax.
