User-Contributed Transcription Her Mother I think they said was at Winchester, or somewhere helping house for her, while absent, & I did not think then I should forget so much. I ought to have written before now. Mrs. Reed appeared a very pretty sort of woman. A young Lady, Hannah Tewksbury, I believe, called to see her, used to live with her, quite pretty, attending school at Newton or somewhere Mrs. Child gave me and old Pocket Book!Called on Mrs Chase just returned from the Country not Royalston though, all well. Mr. B.B. Bush died suddenly a week, fortnight ago, went out to Mr. Auburn, complained of feeling ill, returned died instantly, or almost so. I believe I tell the story right. I found Cousin Humphrey etc.Sabbath A.M. Went into the Marlboro Chapel, large, fine Church. Rev. Matthew Hale Smith, of whom you have heard once Universalist preached his first sermon before the new so called "Pilgrim Church" House crowded full, say 1000 more. Fine preacher. Text "This is none other than the house of God, the gate of Heaven". P.M. I looked in to half a dozen Churches. Winter Street, Mr. Rogers, crowded full, great quire etc. Summer St. Trinity Church. Great Aristocratic Episcopal, Splendid house. Once in a while a Worshipper a child or a woman occasionally in the great pews, to hear their pompous service. Same also in some of the rich great Unitarian Churches, and at Old South. Near by a Second Advent man roaring away wretched nonsense at an awful rate, to a few inferior looking hearers, hear him though half a dozen streets. Evening Park St. Missionary Concert etc.The Aristocratic are not the Church going
