User-Contributed Transcription Dear folks it is rather naughty to write letters Sunday, but we can have an opportunity to send by M. Sewall I suppose tomorrow I am very much obliged for the bundle which came last night. The things were all very acceptable, especially the dress. I will wear them carefully and return them. I could have done without the shoes, but they will be needful in the summer. You must have written in a grievous hurry; you did not say a word about yourself, whether you found a chance in B. or not. I could not help worrying about you less you should be so troubled at the disorder which undoubtedly reigned about the premises when you got home, as to make yourself sick at work. If you stay there till Mother and I come home you must let things go - no matter if everything is not so very nice. We shall have a real overhauling of every thing before we move, and Mother and I will be there to help. How long did you stop in Bangor? I want to know whether you are going there to stay. I went to Mr. Parker's visiting yesterday afternoon and stopped to Bible Class in the evening - the first time I have been out an evening since last fall, except just across the yard into the Academy. I am reading well now in french; the rest of them say that I pronounce best of the class. I am in the 4th or 5th French class! I hardly know which! Write soon and long about every thing. Love to 'Mady and all the folks. Good bye, in haste, Sister Lucy. How much do dress, shoes &c cost? I am in the 16th section in Algebra.[on side]:So to finish up Algebra & surveying The dividers which were sent I have got about done wanting - have had a pair of carpenter's IRON compasses whisk worked very well. sum ink is spilt on as you may perceive Joseph M Metcalfe
