User-Contributed Transcription Foxcroft, Sabbath, April 11th?, 1844Dear Sister Ann,You want us to write, I think we have, but we have not received much in the way of answers, from home. We wrote two letters week before last, & one last week, but have not had an opportunity so send it. Mr. Sewall, I expect will preach here to day & we can send down by him. We received a bundle from you last night by the postman. It was dated a week before, Whether you did not send it, or he did not bring it I know not! Lucy was much pleased with the bundle. She haz had to use a Dictionary with one of the other girls &c. She needs the dress too, I suppose I wish you had written a little more particularly about your journey &c. Do you think of going to Bangor this summer? I hardly like the idea of Eliab remaining at Boston this Summer. He would not have so good health there. He is not very rugged. You write to us all to remember one word 'consideration'. That, I expect, is most excellent advice to all young persons; & every one, I think can look back to many a time when a little more 'consideration', or even a word of advice from 'one who knew'; would have gained as much trouble & prevented many mistakes & difficulties. Yet I believe that we, as a family, are by no means, deficient in consideration, especially compared with other young people. This is certainly the case with myself. I have large bumps both of Cautiousness & Causality, and am naturally disposed to look rather too long before I leap!
