User-Contributed Transcription Bowd. Coll. May 7th 1846Dear Mother I received your last letter about a week since I think. I have not much to write now. except to tell when I expect to get home. What with 'Nostalgia,' or at least desire to go home, and the length of the term & hard study, I have got rather tired out. I believe I should have started for home by this time, in spite of my dislike at making up and being Examined at the beginning of the term; if it were not that I have the bell to ring and cannot very well get away. I do not see how I can get along with staying at home only a fortnight, and yet I do not see but I must be back here about the beginning of the term. I shall have considerable business, as Treas. of the Ath. Soc. that must or ought to be done first week of the term. Besides it is just before Election, and time then you know is important & valuable. Our Examination Wed. May 20th, I suppose but, as the boats now run, if one staid here
