User-Contributed Transcription Bangor Dec, 14th, 1844I sent up a bundle by Mr Dudley, yesterday, with a little scrawl in pencil mark which perhaps you can read; but as I suppose you will like to know more particularly of my situation and prospects, I think I will write a letter. I expected Mr. D. would go Thursday instead of Friday, or I should have sent by Mr. Cutts; I fear you will not get the bundle in season to send by Cutts next week.I walked down to Mr. Dudleys Friday night after Eliab left me; and Sat went into the city, in the morning. I was round in the rain all day, but could not get my bunk; Garnsey was gone & by some mismanagement had taken the keys with him. I wrote a letter to him; and by sending down the next week finally got it, Wednesday. I staid at Mr. Harlows' till sabbath eve. By the way they have meetings, here every sabbath & eve. Some of the students preaching usually, & I suppose I shall be obliged to remain here. Neither the folks or their preachers would like it if I did not. I have got a very pleasant school, about 4 scholars, and considerably forward, most all girls too. Have a good class of five in Algebra, and good classes in all the common studies, especially in Colburns' Arithmetic which you know is much thought of here. The scholars all seem really well disposed, and very bright & intelligent. If one must teach they could hardly get into a better place.
