User-Contributed Transcription for although the rules are so strict, and the place so precise I seem to be one of those favored few to whom all parties conceed the priveledge of doing just as they please, while at my boarding place I have every attention that I can wish, the papers are sent to my room as soon as received and a dish of apples kept sitting on my table. While the more I know of Mr Lyman the more I respect and like him, of Mrs Lyman I think I gave you a description in a former letter which continues true, I am also so fortunate as to obtain permision to study in my room, and only go to the school room to recitations and prayers, am said to be the first person who ever had the priveledge during his first term at the school. Perhaps you would be interested in a list of our regular Sunday services, which are first morning prayers in the Sem. at nine O'clock, 2d Morning service in church. 3 Sabbath School 4th afternoon church service. 5th bible exercise in the Seminary, 6th Students prayer meeting. 7th public prayer meeting, at all of these except the two last and the Sabbath School each student is required to be present and rather expected to be at the others. But I have so arranged it as to get a permanant excuse from any or all the Sabbath exercises at my discretion, if you wish to know why I am the favored one, please remember that my back was slightly injured about a year since, but I must admit that I now feel the good about as much as the evil effects of my misfortune. In the school are about fifty young ladies, and some of them very fine to look at, but the "unkindest cut of all." is that each young man is forbidden under pain of death or something else, to visit, walk, ride or even talk with one or any of them. and if man woman or child is caught out of the room of he she or it during study hours, woe betide 'em, do not wish you to understand
