User-Contributed Transcription Feb. 25. We made quite a day of it. In the morning rode up to Aunt Conant after her, but she was Baking and would not come till After Noon. So we went over to Uncle Williams! Staid there to Dinner. Then took Lucy & went back to Uncle Joseph's Aunt Conant there & a nice time. Aunt C is really a very superior woman, considering her circumstances & life. It must be a strong mind even to not become imbecile in such a life as theirs. We got a big horse sled, & slided down hill on the crust, grand, Joseph, Jane, Maria, Lucy & I. We did try so hard to get all those old folks to sliding. I would have given 1000 myself to have got Uncle S Aunt C upon that sled. I would have warranted them five years younger. They did all come out and look at us; and I know that Uncle Ban has not felt so well for years as he did that day. But Uncle Joseph was the only one we could get on to the sled; He became about as young as any of us.At Night, we went over to Edward Mayo's, and made a call There were some pretty smart girls there, Maria & Anne Mayo quite well educated etc. I made their acquaintance at "Braiding Meeting." Then back, Uncle Joseph, then I carried Lucy W. home & stopped there. I never got acquainted with Lucy William's before. She is certainly a very fine girl. She hasn't her equal in those parts I know. That Baldwin did not begin to be worthy of her. They say it was probably at the time you were there Summer before last that they separated; and nobody there ever suspected it perhaps for six months! she has never even mentioned his name. If she were not my Cousin & a Unitarian I declared I do not know but I should like Lucy Williams! She cannot enjoy herself
