User-Contributed Transcription very well there I do believe, wants to go away & teach but her father is not willing. I do believe she & Maria Stevens will go down East this Summer. I should not wonder you had a lot of Mass. folks to expect. Uncle & Cos. Jos. Uncle Jacob etc. possibles. Mon. 25th. Joseph carried Aunt Esther home with him. Uncle Jos. went to Boston and I to Royalston. Uncle Jacob same as Ever: done all his work himself and it is near 150.00 worth of timber, Chair stuff. Any hard work stick 4 in. though is worth 3.00 per cord there you know. Samuel gon away. Aunt rheumatis one of her daughter there. Josiah teaching school in Templeton. He broke a boy's leg in school this winter by accident, sued for 1000.00 damages. Called at Mr. Perkins, Mrs. P. very sorry that her daughters were not at home! Mr. P is a shrewd speculator, sending lumber to California etc. smart business man has not been to Church for a Year! Obadish Goddard is getting rich, fast. He buys cattle in Feb & March, 20 or 30 sells Fat Cattle in summ26th P.M. next back down to Grouts. Night went to Boston in Cattle Train with Joseph. Got there morning early. Staid there till left corner of letter missing March 1st. Free Soil Convention etc. Came up here yesterday.
