User-Contributed Transcription If I were in a City I should perhaps prefer the "C.E." simply. In the country perhaps the "Cir. Eng." I have forgotten all about it before, but you remember you have been abundantly charged with and about it heretofore, about having Mother's Daguereotype taken abundantly whenever she was first in Bangor. I have told you & Eliab & Mother all about it I think. If there be considered as $5.00 {I have money in Eliab's & Samuel's hands, I believe} set apart for Mother's daguereotype for me. Very Large & in a very handsome case. Do not say I am extravagant. Why I shall ? it tomorrow clear! Well, Samuel, it seems you and I both talk about our first experience of sickness this season. Well, I hardly believe you ever felt quite so horribly stupid as a man with the ague, though doubtless you were much sicker.Perhaps it is best to begin our experience in that line, before we get too old and crabbed to learn to bear it patiently. It is the lot of men. It has its blessings too. I know the little I have had has done me good if it has not made me more thankful & humble, it will make me more careful and attentive to health. I am most afraid yr sickness must have affected & disarranged your business. I hope you are fully restored long ere this to health & strength. And careful not to over task your returning energies. Well, lots of lots of worthless rambling this is.Write & constantly Affectionately I.S.
