User-Contributed Transcription all seem so independent - have so few or know so few calls to Charity or any thing to bring out benevolent feelings that they seem to me to be all bound about with ten thousands bands of - what shall I call it? No it is not exactly perniciousness?Sister Conant 72 years attends to her household duties & knits stockings to sell to provide herself with the little pittance of spending money that she needs - your uncle Conant 78 years old works as steady in the fields as Harvey does & I suppose does about as much- has lately been these hots days about a mile from home on foot to work all day "picking up" on burnt land which they are clearing for rye. I stopt a day or two at Albert Parson's I think he & Joseph are a little different from some here - but I have not seen Joseph he had lately moved to Brattleborough is in a depot there. I have some little expectation that Charles will come here to go home with me.I began this some day ago but have no prospect of getting it to the P.O. till the week comes round. Harvey had been quite sick a few days past - his health is not very good & his good wife worries and talks to him so much about- that perhaps it makes him more low spirits. She is afraid to have her baby most 5 years old step off the door stone till the dew is off or without a blanket on if it is at all foggy. She is excessively careful. It had been exceedingly warm weather here a week or ten days past. How I do want to know how you all are am very much afraid you have all been sick isnt it very hard for Antoinette to take care of the dear little one & isn't it very hard for him I should think
