User-Contributed Transcription Bangor August 19thMy Dear DaughterI dont think of any thing very special to wish to write but yet feel inclin'd to scribble a little - chiefly because I want to hear from home perhaps -Lucy had letter from Isaac yesterday came in seven days from Mt Hawkins he & Charles were then in good health but we see by the papers that the cholera is round about in all the western Cities - The season is to far advanced now that I dont feel so much fear of the boys having it as I did - Isaac didn't say a word about Charles's coming home - I want very much to hear what he says about coming home after getting our letters It seems that they are suffering very much there with the draugth the grass all dried up & the corn all spoil'd for eight weeks, Isaac said they had had no rain at allI want to hear whether it is as dry at Milo as here the trees are dying & the corn in the garden all drying up the grass looks as brown as in november - What do you do about corn for the pigs - I believe Eliab said the price of corn is 85 cents he says if you want any supplies send to them/ Furber & Metcalf) of course - They can use to advantage & want to, all they money they have and
