User-Contributed Transcription Mother Elyria Jan 2, 1856Dunbarton Jan 26, 1856 Elyria JanMy Dear Daughter I intended to have written to you sometime ago But you know how easily these short days slip away one after another. I suppose Isaac has written often & has inform'd you all about our journey & the dreadful scene at the Delavan House. What a merciful interposition of Providence - how can we be thankful enough that his dear life was saved. How quick is thought in my distress it seems as if I thought of almost everything ( while he lay talking incoherently without knowing what he said) of Paralasis & all dreadful sicknesses of his wife & dear little ones of my own helplessness. I didn't know at first that Coal Gas had any such effect. Isaac left here last Wednesday the 16th I cannot but feel anxious about him all
