User-Contributed Transcription 18th Mr. Webb & Mr. Moulten (Sheriff) staid here one night last week went down to the village after breakfast soon as it was light after evidence to try to indite somebody we suppose but I guess they could not make out anything as we have heard nothing about it Mr. M. Dow was buried today funeral at the School House which was crowded full of females most all the Men had to stay out round the door. Almeda's foot is so that she goes up & down stairs and all about house without Crutches but is pretty lame. Mr. Richer has got another nice fat boy - has gone off down the river to stay till it (the river) freezes left his wife without Meal or speaking to C. or anybody to provide her without hardly any wood. It will come hard upon Charles if he dont send something before a great while I dont know but C. ought to apply to the town. There is no prospect of his moving away this winter & I dont see but he'll be just as bad off next spring and summer. I suppose Lucy gets to keeping house about this time she's had many delays and disappointments about it she has written you all about it I suppose C. has got his Corn all about all Husk'd had 4 or 5 Cartloads of very fine Turnips on the intervale about 100 bushels of those that he transplanted Mr. Gilman is jolly-- full of talk and lively as a Cricket Do write my Dear Son & tell me when you are coming home and every thing else I want to know.
