User-Contributed Transcription Dear Isaac & Nettie I suppose Sam'l has written & kept you inform'd in regard to Lucy our altimate hopes & fears today we have a little hope - her cough is the same - but she seems a little stronger. If she gets well it will seem like raising from the dead almost Tis astonishing beyond measure that her strength holds out as it does. Such pain and suffering & raising such quantities of such bad matter. She herself is very hopeful. She said to me this morning O how wonderful that my baby is alive Tis a happiness almost greater than I can bear if it should die it seems as if I couldn't live & I really think that her strong hope & happiness in her child has help'd greatly to sustain her life
