User-Contributed Transcription Cedar Grove Milo Feb 11th 1854My Dear Son, I return here yesterday Eliab came up with me and has gone back this afternoon -- received letters from Isaac and Antoinette last tuesday I was very much amus'd at the account of Sam'l's arrival at there I hope he will enjoy himself & do well & you likewise. Sam'l must have had rather a hard time getting out there I want very much to hear more about him how he left his family & etc. Sister Conant wrote me that your uncle Conant had made his Will given Sam'l 50 dollars and Hervey all the rest it is too bad I think but he is of one mind I really think that he means to do just right & thinks he does in so doing His father gave him all after fixing of 3 daughters & himself & wife were sick a great while so that all was very little, & he of course thought he must do as his father did Why don't you write more particularly about(left margin) have you or has he any idea that you should ever like that part of the country for a permanent residence(upper margin) Tell Sam'l Conant I should be very glad if he would write to me and tell how he likes there & what he thinks of Isaac & you and all the suckers out there He looks rather deep into things I should value his opinion & judgement in many things very highly
