User-Contributed Transcription doing everything better than a woman could. He got four or five hot flatirons, a jug of hot water and flannel ? etc. round her, and then it was some time before he could get her warm - meanwhile Percie was scatters, worrying & crying, so I could only attend to him, and "Energine" turning up in Maria's room, so the nurse had her hands full. Mother is releived of her Cholera morbus attack, and feels much better this morning. the only danger now is of fever - she is very weak & pale. While Percie sleeps, I keep the flies off & write - he keeps along about so - better one day & worse the next. These warm days & cool nights are very bad for the bowel complaints. For myself, if all the rest were well, I should be sick, or at least give myself up to rest & recruit. Mallie is just as smart as can be. I do not doubt she will be down stairs in less than a fortnight. Is just as happy as ever you saw any body - says she would go it all over again now, or would as soon as the baby was born, for the sake of having two. Says it was nothing to what she expected! Can't you follow the example of the worthy woman who wrote the enclosed printed letter, & send equally encouraging epistles to Charles? Is'nt it a good "take off?" love to all - Aff. Lucy.
