User-Contributed Transcription Bangor - Thursday Oct 12th/15thMy Dear DaughterMr Rider has just gone from here to Dr McRuens to have his face operated upon. We can't but feel very much for him. Almeda feels very bad tho' they both feel very glad he came. Dr Mc Ruen a short time since perform'd a similar operation, only worse. I guess he understand it thoroughly he said it would take no more than 2 or 3 minutes to cut it out, & get it all done up.Why didn't you send Charlie - I ask'd L what I should say to you about his coming Sam'l said tell her we've been expecting him every mail & all disappoint that he did not come & if you were writing he should come send him right along. I expect his habits have been such in regard to doing pretty much as he have a mind to that he would require some carer and attention, but I think it would be a real benefit to him to be here a while - I don't think that his Father will be home till December. We had a letter from Isaac yesterday dated Oct 10th in which he say, that he is expecting to get through there by the 1st of Dec. If so I thought it most likely they would come home together. If you send Charlie the sooner he comes the better you need not to fix him send him just as he is. I can see about that after he gets here -----Send him right along Saturday if you can, if not Tuesday. Percie is getting along nicely has gain'd most 2 pounds but him take comforter & mittens for it will be cold & he'll want to be out a good deal. Please send my old shawl.
