User-Contributed Transcription stand and step a little - she kept gaining till she got so she could walk all about and remained so three or four weeks but did not seem right well any of the time - she has a peculiar whiteness in her face and hands all winter which cause us some uneasiness. One evening about four weeks before she died she complained of pain in her left side. I laid my hand on to try and ease it and found her heart was beating violently - in a day or two she commenced coughing and we took her to St. Paul to see the Dr. he called it palpitation of the heart and seemed confident that he could help her soon - we proposed staying at Fathers a few days where he could see her often but he did not seem to think it necessary and so we came home but she grew worse and we sent for him in a few days - he then called it organic disease of the heart and gave but little encouragement that he could
